Privacy Policy
ZSocial is a friend-discovery app built around one promise — everyone is real. That shapes how we treat your data: we collect what's needed to keep the community real and help you find friends nearby, and nothing we don't need.
1. Information we collect
You give us:
- Account: phone number (sign-in and the anchor for safety/bans), and an optional recovery email.
- Profile: name, date of birth (we show only your age, never the date), gender, who you want to meet, country/city, languages, hobbies, education & college, height and other optional details, bio, and any social links you add.
- Photos & videos: live in-app captures (for verification and your profile) and any media you upload to posts or stories.
- Messages: the content of chats (see §4 — end-to-end encrypted; we cannot read them).
Collected automatically: device location (if you allow it — see §3), plus basic device & usage data needed to run and secure the service.
2. Verification (how we keep everyone real)
To verify a profile we ask for a live in-app photo. It's analyzed on your device to confirm a real face is present and that it isn't a photo of a screen or print. We store your verified photo(s) on your profile; we never sell or share them.
3. Location — precise stays private
- If you allow location, we store your precise coordinates privately to calculate how far away other people are.
- Other users never see your exact location — only a general area and an approximate, rounded distance (e.g. "around 5 km away"). No map pin, no live location.
- You can use the app without precise location by choosing your country manually, update it anytime in Settings, and turn on "Hide from nearby."
- We only access location while you are using the app. We do not track location in the background.
4. Messages are end-to-end encrypted
Direct messages are end-to-end encrypted — encrypted on your device and readable only by you and the person you're chatting with. ZSocial cannot read your messages. If you report a message, the relevant content is shared for review with your involvement.
5. How we use your information
- Run the core service and help you connect.
- Find friends near you (see §3).
- Keep the community real and safe: verification, 18+ enforcement, fraud/abuse prevention, and moderation of reported content.
- Communicate with you about your account, and comply with the law.
We do not sell your personal data. We do not sell visibility, boosts, or likes.
6. Who we share it with
- Service providers that host and run the app on our behalf (backend/database, storage, push delivery), under contract and only as needed.
- Safety & legal: to respond to lawful requests, enforce our terms, or protect people from harm.
We never publish your phone number or exact location to other users.
7. Your choices & rights
- Access / edit: update your profile anytime in the app.
- Location: allow, deny, or change it; "when in use" only.
- Delete your account: Settings → Delete account permanently removes your profile, photos, and connections.
- Depending on where you live (e.g. Malaysia PDPA, or GDPR in the EU) you may have additional rights. Contact us at support@zsocial.social.
8. Data retention
We keep your information while your account is active. When you delete your account, we remove your profile, photos, and connections, except where we must keep limited records for legal, safety, or fraud-prevention reasons (for example, a banned phone number).
9. Age
ZSocial is strictly for adults 18 and over, enforced with a date-of-birth gate at sign-up. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we remove it.
10. Security
We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, end-to-end encryption for messages, and owner-only access controls for sensitive data like exact location. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep yours safe.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy; material changes will be noted in the app. The effective date above shows the latest version.
